Community Giving
Ever since we began in 1928, Security Bank has been creating meaningful relationships and supporting area residents' needs. We focus on creating solutions that help our community thrive. Our community support doesn't end there. Bank employees lead by example by diligently volunteering their time and skills to a wide range of nonprofit organizations. From serving on school boards to the American Cancer Center, our bank family is tightly knit with communities, residents and businesses.
Security Bank is honored to have our President and CEO, Jim Smitherman, named 2011 Midland Family of the Year by The Samaritan Counseling Center. Gregg McDonald, Odessa Market President, notably received the 2012 Victoria Lozano Award- Family of the Year.
Charitable Giving
In the past several years alone Security Bank has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless volunteer hours to charitable organizations in Texas. In addition to numerous others, Security makes major contributions to:
Permian Basin Rehab Center Telethon
Each year, Security branches raise thousands at the local branches, and employees volunteer their time answering calls at the phone bank during each telethon.
Local Stock Shows
Security Bank annually sponsors the Reagan County, Crane, Monahans, Medina County, Upton County, Sandhills and San Antonio Stock Shows.
Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Permian Basin (CASA)
To further CASA's mission of providing court advocates to find safe and nurturing homes for neglected children, Security Bank lends its support to CASA of the Permian Basin. The bank sponsors the annual CASA Golf Tournament.
University of Texas of the Permian Basin
Security recognizes that the UTPB students of today become the business owners and leaders of our community tomorrow. The bank proudly supports the university and donates annually to further its growth.
Hunt for Heroes
Security Bank sponsors Show of Support and the annual Hunt for Heroes as a token of gratitude to our local soldiers who were wounded while fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
United Way
Security believes in the United Way mission of placing donations in well-managed programs that strengthen our entire community. The bank provides ongoing support to the United Way of Odessa and Midland with corporate gifts and by providing employees the opportunity to give through a bank-wide employee campaign.
